Naval Staff Appreciation of Jutland

The Naval Staff Appreciation of Jutland was a British study of the Battle of Jutland published under the auspices of the Training and Staff Duties Division of the Naval Staff in 1922. Prepared by Captain (later Vice-Admiral) Kenneth G. B. Dewar and his brother, Captain Alfred C. Dewar, the volume has become notorious for its perceived anti-Jellicoe (Commander-in-Chief of the Grand Fleet at Jutland) and pro-Beatty (Vice-Admiral Commanding, Battle Cruiser Fleet) biases. Printed in a small print run of 100, all copies were recalled by the Admiralty from 1930 onwards for destruction. However, at least four copies survived, and for the centenary of Jutland in 2016 an edition was published, edited by William Schleihauf and Stephen McLaughlin.
