Assistant Controller was a title given to Director of Naval Contruction William Henry White in 1886. The Assistant Controller was responsible to the Controller of the Navy and the Board of Admiralty for the construction and design of Royal Navy warships. The Engineer-in-Chief reported to him.[1]
