Frederick Laurence Field
Admiral of the Fleet SIR Frederick Laurence Field, G.C.B., G.C.M.G., Royal Navy (19 April, 1871 – 24 October, 1945) served as First Sea Lord and Chief of the Naval Staff from 1930 to 1933.
Life & Career
Field was confirmed in the rank of Sub-Lieutenant dated 14 November, 1890.[1] He was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 1 April, 1893.[2]
Field was promoted to the rank of Commander on 26 June, 1902.[3]
He was promoted to the rank of Captain on 31 December, 1907.[4]
Great War
Appointed Commanding Officer of H.M.S. Vernon on 10 September 1914. [5]
On 15 September he was appointed a Companion in the Military Division of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath (C.B.) dated 31 May.[6]
Post-War
He was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 11 February, 1919,[7], vice Ballard.
Field was promoted to the rank of Vice-Admiral on 26 September, 1924, vice Mawbey.[8]
Field was promoted to the rank of Admiral on 5 April, 1928, vice Fremantle.[9]
