Vice-Admiral Marcus Rowley Hill, C.B.E., Royal Navy, Retired (13 March, 1867 – 8 February, 1925) was an officer of the Royal Navy.

Early Life & Career

Hill was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 26 August, 1890.[1]

Hill was promoted to the rank of Commander on 30 June, 1901.[2]

Hill was promoted to the rank of Captain on 31 December, 1906.[3]

He was appointed command of the aircraft carrier Vindictive on 4 August, 1908.[4]

Great War

On 4 May, 1918, Hill was appointed Senior Naval Officer, Simonstown.[5] He was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 1 September,[6] and placed on the Retired List on 2 September.[7] He was advanced to Vice-Admiral on the Retired List on 2 November, 1923.[8]

He passed away on 8 February, 1925 at 17 Burton Court, Chelsea, aged fifty-eight.
