Lieutenant-Commander Thomas Parkinson, O.B.E. (18 January, 1884 – ) served in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Parkinson was promoted to the rank of Gunner on 2 October, 1911.[1]
Parkinson was promoted to the rank of Mate on 3 April, 1914. During the war, he served first in Garry before being sent to Dolphin to be trained in submarines on 1 August, 1915. On 22 September, he was assigned to the submarine V 1, servin in her through 19 January, 1917, being promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 3 August, 1916.[2]
Parkinson served in J 2 from 20 January, 1917 through 1 October, 1918. In the post-war period, he commanded a number of interned German U-boats.[3]
Parkinson was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 3 August, 1924.[4]
On 20 August, 1924, Parkinson was appointed in command of Group "D" submarines in reserve at Portland, and for instructional duties. In early 1926, there were four boats in "D" group: E 48, L 6, L 12 and L 25.[5]
