Italy built ten "Soldati" class destroyers in three groups, completing them as the Great War approached.

Design & Construction

The six units of the Artigliere group were all coal burners. The Alpino group of three oil-burners came next. The last unit, Ascaro, ordered by China around 1910 and acquired in 1912, boasted an oil-burning boiler forward and two coal-burners aft.
