Lieutenant-Commander George Nicholson Bradford, V.C., R.N. (23 April, 1887 – 23 April, 1918) was an officer in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Born in County Durham.

Bradford was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in July, 1909.

Bradford was appointed to the battleship Orion on 27 January 1914 and served in her through the war, being promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander in July, 1917.

In April, 1918 Bradford was appointed to the ferry steamer Iris to participate in the Raid on Zeebrugge. He died in the mission, in which Iris functioned as an assault ship. Bradford was awarded a posthumous Victoria Cross for his role in the raid.
