The torpedo gunboat H.M.S. Rattlesnake was completed for the Royal Navy in 1887 — her first of this type of vessel.
Service
Rattlesnake participated in the Annual Manoeuvres of 1891 under the command of Lieutenant Frederick Tower Hamilton. These ended on 5 August, and on the 27th, the T.B.D. was paid off out of commission at Portsmouth, passing into the A Division of the Steam Reserve.[6]
