Commander (retired) Charles Edward Aglionby, R.N. (26 June, 1882 – ) served in the Royal Navy and the Royal Canadian Navy.
Life & Career
Aglionby was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 26 June, 1903.
On 21 July, 1910, Aglionby was appointed to Niobe, shortly before she was to be transferred to the Royal Canadian Navy. Though he was retired, he would stay in her through the transition, assuming W/T duties and eventually become her temporary captain upon the departure of Captain William Balfour Macdonald some time between July and October, 1913.
Aglionby was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 26 June, 1911 and placed on the Retired List at his own request on 30 June, 1912.
Aglionby reverted to the Retired List on 16 August, 1919 and was promoted to the rank of Commander (retired) in recognition of wartime service, dated 11 November, 1918.
