Commander Alfred Peel Ethelston, R.N. (31 December, 1862 – 25 November, 1889) served in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Born in Hinton, Whitchurch.
Ethelston was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 4 February, 1885.
Ethelston was promoted to the rank of Commander on 1 January, 1897.
Ethelston was appointed to the first class protected cruiser Powerful at Portsmouth on 22 April, 1897. He traveled in her out to the China Station in mid 1897.
Ethelston landed with the Naval Brigade at CApe Colony in October, 1899 and was killed in action at Gras Pan on 25 November, 1889. He was mentioned in the Naval Commander-in-Chief's report in South Africa, 1899.
