Captain (retired) Francis Edmund Musgrave Garforth, C.B.E. (10 February, 1874 – 11 August, 1953) was an officer in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Garforth gained four months' time on passing out of Britannia in December, 1889.[1]

Garforth was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 1 April, 1897.[2]

Garforth was promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December, 1908.[3]

Garforth was promoted to the rank of Acting Captain on 25 June, 1916.[4]

Post-War

Garforth was appointed in command of the gunboat Cicala on 4 February, 1920.[5]

Garforth was placed on the Retired List at his own request with the rank of Captain (retired) on 6 June, 1922.[6]

In 1943, the Admiralty expressed their displeasure with Garforth's "irregular use of Government stationery."
