Vice-Admiral Thomas Erskine Wardle, D.S.O., (9 January 1877 – 9 May 1944) was an officer in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Wardle was appointed as Naval Secretary of the Ordnance Board on 15 February, 1910.[1]

He was appointed in command of the Crescent on 10 February, 1913.[2]

Wardle was promoted to Captain on 30 June, 1915.

Captain

Wardle commanded Alcantara in her action against Template:DE-Greif on 29 February, 1916.

He was appointed in command of Dreadnought in January, 1918.[3]

On 13 June, 1918, he was appointed in command of the light cruiser Danae.[4]

Post-War

He was appointed in command of the light cruiser Calliope in June, 1923.[5]

He became Rear-Admiral Commanding the Australian Fleet for exactly two years, commencing on 30 April, 1924.[Citation needed]

He retired at his own request on 9 July 1926[Citation needed] and was advanced to the rank of Vice-Admiral on the retired list.
