Vice-Admiral Frederick St. George Rich, F.R.G.S., Royal Navy, Retired (14 November, 1852 – 22 May, 1914) was an officer of the Royal Navy.

Early Life & Career

He was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant with seniority of 24 May, 1877.[1]

Rich was promoted to the rank of Commander on 30 June, 1890.[2]

Rich was promoted to the rank of Captain on 31 December, 1897.[3] He was re-appointed in command of the torpedo cruiser Brisk on 1 January, 1898.[4]

In November 1903, he assumed command of the first class protected cruiser Diadem.[5]

Rich was appointed in command of the battleship Hood on 5 May, 1904.[6]

He was appointed command of the first class protected cruiser Powerful on 3 January, 1905.[7] In August 1905, Rich assumed command of second class battleship Centurion.[8]

He was appointed a Naval Aide-de-Camp to King Edward VII on 1 July, 1906, vice Foley.[9]

Rich was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 1 June, 1907, vice Groome.[10]

In accordance with the provisions of the Order in Council of 8 December, 1903, Rich was placed on the Retired List at his own request on 20 September, 1910.[11] He was advanced to the rank of Vice-Admiral on the Retired List on 30 July, 1912.[12]
