Service
In mid-1913, at Haulbowline.[8]
While under the command of Captain Metcalfe}} on 8 March, 1915, Wear sped to the scene of Bouvet's explosion and rescued 66 men from the water while under fire from shore batteries. That same evening, she provided the same service for Irresistible, rescuing more than 600 from the listing battleship.[9]
