Service

Commissioned at Chatham on 3 December, 1912. She was ordered to join the Second Battle Squadron on 5 July 1913, but may have been attached to it previously.[7]

Alterations

Chatham was fitted with a director in September, 1918. This alteration may have required her pole mast to be replaced with a tripod mast for greater rigidity.[8]
