Commander (retired) Arthur Wardell-Yerburgh, D.S.C. (13 July, 1891 – 20 March, 1953) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

The son of Reverend Canon D. P. Wardell-Yerburgh.[1]

Wardell-Yerburgh was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 30 April, 1914. He served in Agincourt from the outbreak of the war through 10 December 1914 when he was appointed to Vulcan for service in submarines.[2]

Wardell-Yerburgh served in C 25 from mid-April 1915 to 1 April, 1916 when he was appointed to E 35. He remained in that boat until October 1916 when he was appointed in command of {{the coastal boat C 17.[3]

Wardell-Yerburgh was treated for syphilis at Chatham Naval Hospital in August, 1917.[4]

Having recently been treated for illegible symptoms, he was placed on the Retired List as medically unfit on 5 March, 1919. This was post-dated to 14 March.[5]

Wardell-Yerburgh was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander (retired) on 30 April, 1922.[6]

Wardell-Yerburgh was promoted to the rank of Commander (retired) on 13 July, 1931.[7]
