Commander (retired) Cecil Alexander Laffitte, (28 January, 1897 – 15 June, 1952) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Laffitte passed out of the Training Establishment in August 1914 and was appointed to the destroyer Grafton. In December, he was sent to join the battleship Marlborough. He would remain in her through the Battle of Jutland, in which she was torpedoed. On 5 June, 1916, he was assigned to the patrol boat P 68. On 2 April, 1917 he was superseded in her.[1]

Laffitte was sent to Dolphin for two months instruction in submarines in May, 1917.[2]

Laffitte was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 January, 1918.[3]

On 27 March 1922, he was palced in command of Group "H" submarines in reserve, and in July was given command of H 44. This was not to last long, as he was placed on the Retired List at his own request upon ceasing duty on 27 October, 1922.[4]

Laffitte was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 15 January, 1926.[5]

Laffitte was promoted to the rank of Commander on 28 January, 1937.[6]
