Rear-Admiral (retired) John Salwey Hallifax, (9 March, 1846 – 11 December, 1904) served in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Hallifax was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 1 June, 1869.
Hallifax was promoted to the rank of Commander on 14 October, 1881.
Hallifax was tried by Court Martial on 28 August, 1896 for suffering Undaunted to be stranded or hazarded. He was reprimanded and admonished to be more careful.
Hallifax was promoted to the rank of Captain on 31 December, 1887.
Retired at his own request on 31 August, 1899, Hallifax was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral (retired) on 16 June, 1901.
His executor informed the Admiralty that Hallifax died suddenly on Sunday, 11 December, 1904.
