Commander Henry Christopher Holmes, (10 September, 1897 – ) was an officer in the Royal Navy and, as a Midshipman, manned the port 6-in control hood for H.M.S. Tiger's at the Battle of Jutland.

Life & Career

Holmes was promoted to the rank of Midshipman with seniority of 31 July, 1914.[1]

Holmes was appointed to Tiger on 3 October, 1914[2] and would fight in her at the Battle of Jutland.

Holmes was appointed to the destroyer Winchelsea on 10 August, 1918 and promoted to the rank of Lieutenant with seniority of 15 August, 1918.[3]

Holmes was appointed to the battleship Emperor of India on 21 February, 1919.[4]

He retired on 12 March 1920 and was moved to the Emergency List.[5]
