H.M.S. India was a commercial liner converted for use as an Armed Merchant Cruiser in the Royal Navy.

India mounted guns and ammunitioned 12-17 April, 1915 at Royal Albert Docks, London.[7]

Her particular armament is unknown,[8][9] but certainly included 6-in guns, most likely at least two per broadside, as forward and aft ammunition spaces are described in her log book.[10]
