Vice-Admiral Patrick Edward Parker, D.S.O., Royal Navy, Retired (17 March, 1881 – 19 August, 1941) was an officer of the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Parker was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 July, 1901.[1]
Parker was promoted to the rank of Commander on 30 June, 1913.[2]
Great War
On 22 February, 1918, he was appointed in command of the monitor Sir John Moore[3]
Parker was promoted to the rank of Captain on 31 December, 1918.[4]
Post-War
Parker was appointed as Assistant Director of Artillery and Torpedoes on 1 May, 1919. He left in April, 1920 when he was appointed as Deputy Director of Local Defence Division.[5]
In April 1923, he was appointed in command of the light cruiser Carysfort.
On 2 November, 1926, he was appointed in command of the new minelaying cruiser Adventure, being superseded after seeing her through her trials, some time after her commissioning on 4 November. He then took the second part of the Senior Officer's Technical Course and a course in Mining before being appointed a second time in command of Adventure on 1 April, 1927. His tenure ended on 26 January, 1928 when he secured passage back to the UK in Barham.[6]
He was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 2 April, 1930 and placed on the Retired List the following day. He was advanced to the rank of Vice-Admiral on the Retired List on 19 July, 1935.[7]
World War II
Parker was appointed for duty as Commodore of Convoys with a rank of COmmodore, Second Class, R.N.R. on 31 February, 1939.[8] He died when his ship Aguila was torpedoed on 19 August, 1941.[9]
