Life & Career

In April, 1907 he was appointed to Mercury for submarines. He would have several more submarine-related appointments, but no explicit command stints are noted in his Service Record.[2]

Hervey was promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December, 1913 after two years service in King Edward VII and sent to Dolphin to conduct experimental work with submarines. He was appointed to the destroyer Diana for the Test Mobilisation in July 1914 and remained with the ship until 21 October when he was sent to the Admiralty for special service, vice Cdr. Hervey was placed on the Retired List on account of non-service with the rank of Captain on 9 November, 1925.[5]
