Lieutenant-Commander John Hutchings, (18 June, 1877 – 30 December, 1915) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

The son of C. Hutchings, Esq. of Cheshire wqas born in Grappenhall.

Hutchings was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in April, 1899.

Hutchings was promoted to the rank of Commander in June, 1911.

Hutchings served as torpedo and sometimes also as first officer in a series of armoured cruisers until he was appointed to the armoured cruiser H.M.S. Natal as executive officer for the Test Mobilisation in July 1914 and remained in her until he died when she blew up on 30 December 1915.
