Read was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 1 September, 1925.[1]
Read was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 1 September, 1933.[2]
Read was granted the acting rank of Commander on 1 December, 1944.[3]
Retired 21 March, 1952.[4]
