Commander (retired) Walter Ernest Higham, (25 November, 1897 – ) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

The son of E. J. Higham, who worked at the Stock Exchange.

Higham was a special entry to the Training Establishment. He left on 1 February 1916 and was appointed to Superb, fighting in her at the Battle of Jutland. He left her when he was appointed to Excellent for a short course in gunnery for work in T.B.Ds..

On 8 August 1918 he was appointed to Dolphin for instruction in submarines.

Higham was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 February, 1919. On 9 January 1922, he was appointed to H 44 as first lieutenant.

Higham was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 15 February, 1927.

World War II

Higham was placed on the Retired List on account of age at the rank of Commander on 25 November, 1942.
