The 18-in Fiume Mark II Torpedo was a torpedo manufactured by Whitehead from 1893.[1]
It was built in both "long" and "short" versions.
Development
The torpedo's speed for 600 yards, rather than 800 yards, was stamped on those torpedoes after number 4379. The numbering was re-started at 1 to avoid four figures.[2]
In 1896, two of these were adjusted at Horsea, making 28.59 knots at 600 yards in 68 degree water, and eleven at Plymouth, making 28.74 knots at 600 yards in 60 degree water.[3]
