Vice-Admiral SIR Maurice Swynfen FitzMaurice, K.C.V.O., C.B., C.M.G., Royal Navy (12 August, 1870 – 23 January, 1927) was an officer of the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
On 28 January, 1892, FitzMaurice was confirmed in the rank of Sub-Lieutenant, dated 14 May, 1890.[1]
He was promoted to the rank of Commander dated 31 December, 1902.[2]
FitzMaurice was appointed Assistant Director of Naval Intelligence on 9 November, 1910.[3] He was reappointed as Assistant Director of the Intelligence Division on the formation of the Admiralty War Staff in January, 1912.[4]
Great War
He was appointed command of the battleship Triumph on 5 August, 1914.[5]
He was appointed an Additional Member of the Third Class, or Companion, of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George (C.M.G.) on 1 January, 1916.[6]
Post-War
FitzMaurice was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 26 November, 1920, vice Hope.[7]
FitzMaurice died at Simonstown on 23 January, 1927.[8]
