Admiral Cresswell John Eyres, D.S.O., O.B.E., Royal Navy, Retired (20 March, 1862 – 12 October, 1949) was an officer of the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Eyres was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant with seniority of 20 September, 1882.[1]

Eyres was promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December, 1897.[2]

Captain

Eyres was promoted to the rank of Captain on 30 June, 1903.[3]

He was appointed in command of the Spartiate on 14 July, 1905.[4]

He was appointed in command of Jupiter on 18 June, 1907.[5]

He was appointed in command of the battleship H.M.S. Irresistible on 1 May, 1908.[6]

Eyres was appointed a Naval Aide-de-Camp to King George V on 20 September, 1912, vice Campbell.[7] He commanded H.M.S. Temeraire for five months from April, 1913 and was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 23 June, 1913.[8]

Great War

Eyres was advanced to the rank of Vice-Admiral on the Retired List on 1 September, 1918.[11] He was advanced to the rank of Admiral on the Retired List on 1 June, 1922.[12]
