Builder: Vickers[1]
Ordered: May, 1916[2]
Launched: 19 Oct, 1918[3]

H.M.S. M 2 was one of one of three monitor submarines of the "M" class completed for the Royal Navy.

Service

In late 1920, submarines M 1, M 2 and M 3 were allocated to submarine reserve group "C" at Portsmouth, under the collective command of Commander Hubert Vaughan-Jones and tender to Dolphin.[6]

In 1923 while under the command of Henry Francis Morton Peto, M 2 collided with Cyclops and he was cautioned to exercise greater care in future.[7]

She was reduced to Reserve on 20 August, 1924.[8]

Completed to full complement on 5 July, 1927 for operation with the Fifth Submarine Flotilla.[9]
