Commander R.N.R. (retired) Edward Montagu Legge, R.D., R.N.R. (17 February, 1879 – ) was an officer in the Royal Naval Reserve.

Life & Career

Legge served aboard H.M.S. Dreadnought from February 1912 until he was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant R.N.R. on 26 February, 1913.[1]

He served in Empress of Asia, Lama[?] and Clio between the outbreak of war and January, 1916.[2]

Legge may have been appointed in command of the second class protected cruiser Eclipse on 17 July, 1917,[3] but his Service Record indicates he may have just been her navigating officer, and that may have only commenced on 11 March 1918.[4]

Legge's demobilisation date changed many times. It appears that he may have gone to Vancouver and been demobilised, finally, on 13 June, 1919.[5]

Legge was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander R.N.R. on 26 February, 1921.[6]

Legge was placed on the Retired List at the rank of Commander R.N.R. on 17 February, 1924.[7]
