Admiral SIR Archibald Lucius Douglas, G.C.B., G.C.V.O., Royal Navy (8 February, 1842 – 12 March, 1913) was an officer of the Royal Navy.

His son, Lt. Cdr. David William Shafto Douglas would die at the Battle of Jutland in the armoured cruiser H.M.S. Black Prince, in which he was Gunnery Officer.

Life & Career

Douglas was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 23 May, 1862.[1]

Douglas was promoted to the rank of Commander on 1 May, 1872.[2]

Douglas was promoted to the rank of Captain on 19 July, 1880.[3]

He was appointed command of Edinburgh on 6 September, 1890.[4]

Douglas was appointed a Naval Aide-de-Camp to Queen Victoria dated 1 January, 1893, vice Church.[5]

Douglas was appointed Commander-in-Chief on the East Indies Station on 15 January, 1898.[6]

Douglas was promoted to the rank of Vice-Admiral on 15 June, 1901, vice St. John.[7]
