Captain (retired) Walter Geoffrey Rigg, D.S.O., R.N. (13 January, 1878 – ) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Born in Brompton, the son of H. M. Rigg, Esq..

Rigg was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 30 June, 1900.

Rigg was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 30 June, 1908.

Rigg was placed on the Retired List at his own request upon giving up his second command of Rocket on 17 October, 1910. He commenced to take brief courses in minesweeping in 1911, 1913 and 1914. On 29 July 1914 he was appointed to Actæon for minsweeping duties at Dover.

Rigg was granted the acting rank of Commander on 14 May, 1915.

Rigg was promoted to the rank of Commander (retired) on 13 January, 1918.

Rigg was promoted to the rank of Captain (retired) on 13 January, 1923.
