Gunner George Henry Oxland, (26 April, 1866 – 2 February, 1908) served in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Born in Plymstock, Devon.
Oxland was promoted to the rank of Acting Gunner on 1 November, 1898.
Gunner Oxland was appointed to Avon on 4 November 1905, and was subjected to a Court-Martial on 12 December for leaving the ship on 2 December. He was acquitted on technical grounds, but an engine artificer had died in an accident while Oxland was away and two other men were punished for various offences.[1]
He would die of pneumonia while in an appointment to Shannon.
