Captain John Peter Ralph Marriott, R.N. (28 November, 1879 – 21 December, 1938) served in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Marriott was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 1 April, 1902.
Marriott was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 1 April, 1910.
Marriott was promoted to the rank of Commander on 30 June, 1914. At the outbreak of War, Marriott was appointed to the second class protected cruiser Charybdis for two months, before moving to the armoured cruiser Euryalus, where he would become Flag Commander to Rear-Admiral Sir Rosslyn Wemyss. His professional relationship to Wemyss would prove lasting.
Having previously functioned as Naval Assistant to Deputy First Sea Lord Sir Rosslyn Wemyss, Marriott was promoted to the rank of Captain on 31 December, 1918 and served as the Naval Assistant to First Sea Lord Wemyss at the armistice talks at Compiegne.
