Retired as unfit on 25 February, 1898 under the provisions of [[Order in Council of 22 February, 1870]].  An entry above this, which was struck through, clearly stated "unfit chronic alcoholism" and "under [[Order in Council of 3 August, 1897|OinC 3 August 1897]]" and gave him 7/6 a day rather than 10/- in retired pay was "not given effect to in consequence of [illeg] report on him by Sir A. Buller."

Commander Francis Grassie De Lisle, R.N. (9 June, 1859 – 19 January, 1906) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

In July, 1871, de Lisle was ranked tenth in order of merit of thirty-five candidates accepted as Naval Cadets following the entrance examinations.[1]

de Lisle was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 8 December, 1879.

de Lisle was promoted to the rank of Commander on 1 January, 1891.

Retired as unfit on 25 February, 1898 under the provisions of Order in Council of 22 February, 1870.
