Admiral SIR Walter Thomas Couchman, K.C.B., C.V.O., D.S.O., O.B.E. (19 March, 1905 – 2 May, 1980) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Born in India. He was awarded the Henry Leigh Carslake Prize for an essay submitted as a Naval Observer for the Fleet Air Arm.

Couchman was promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December, 1938.[1]

Couchman was promoted to the rank of Captain on 31 December, 1942.[2]

Couchman was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral in 1952. He retired in 1961 after a year as Vice-Chief of the Naval Staff..
