Lieutenant-Commander William Ahern, D.S.C., R.N. (2 January, 1863 – 3 February, 1946) served in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Ahern was promoted to the rank of Boatswain on 1 April, 1897.
Ahern was promoted to the rank of Chief Boatswain on 1 April, 1912.[1]
Ahern was appointed in command of the first-class torpedo boat T.B. 052 on 10 March, 1914.[2] He was singled out for credit in his assistance when the destroyer Manly was grounded on 2 July, 1915.
Ahern was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 31 December, 1917. He was retired on 21 May, 1919, antedated to 2 January, 1918.
Ahern was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 31 December, 1925.
