There was an earlier torpedo boat named U.S.S. Shubrick.
Service
Shubrick was commissioned on 3 July, 1919 with Lieutenant Commander Creed H. Boucher in command.
In September 1940, she was re-commissioned for service in the Royal Navy as H.M.S. Ripley.
