Commander (retired) Kenneth Maximilian Wilkinson, (24 January, 1893 – 6 November, 1936) served in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Wilkinson was appointed to the destroyer Brisk on 8 October 1913.
In 1914 he was awarded the Royal Humane Society Bronze Medal for attempting to save the life of an A.B. from Brisk in January of that year.
On 24 February 1915 he was appointed to C 17. He was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 July, 1915 and in October he was relieved in C 17 and was appointed to Superb. This proved brief, and he was appointed to Revenge from late 1915 to 27 November 1916.[1]
In that same year, a Court of Enquiry was convened following officers of the mess of Wallflower having complained about his conduct. He was deemed unfit to serve in a ship owing to his peculiarities of temper and erratic behaviour. Although he was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 15 July, 1923, he was discharged to half pay, and placed on the Retired List as medically unfit on 19 August, 1924.[2] An appointment in command of Tetrarch for 1924's Reserve Fleet Exercises likely never came to fruition.[3]
Wilkinson was promoted to the rank of Commander (retired) on 24 January, 1933.[4]
