H.M.S. Dee was one of twelve Medina Class flatiron gunboats completed for the Royal Navy.

Service

Dee and Don appear to have left Portsmouth for Malta upon being commissioned, where they were promptly paid off for an extended period.

In mid-1884, Dee shared an Engineer Officer with the flatiron gunboat Don, that officer being borne in Hibernia at Malta.[4]

By APril 1885, both boats were being prepared for commissioning.[5]
