The Royal Naval Barracks, Devonport were also called H.M.S. Vivid from 1890 to 1914, operating as a training facility.

In 1934, it was renamed H.M.S. Drake.

Dates of appointment given:

Richard Hyde was appointed as Captain of Dockyard, Deputy Superintendent and King's Harbour Master on 15 April, 1920 and being superseded on 18 April, 1922.[54]
