Commander (retired) William Edward Prowse, (21 July, 1876 – 31 January, 1950) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Prowse was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 1 April, 1899.

Prowse was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 1 April, 1907.

He was placed on the Retired List at his own request on 16 April, 1910.

Prowse was granted the acting rank of Commander (retired) on 1 April, 1915.

Prowse was promoted to the rank of Commander on [illeg] July, 1916.

He reverted to the Retired List on 11 February, 1919.

In 1924, he was appointed to command the training ship Arethusa.
