Vice-Admiral (retired) Alexander Farrington, C.M.G. (15 April, 1869 – 8 December, 1933) was an officer in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Farrington gained two months' time on passing out of Britannia in July 1884.[1]
Farrington was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 1 April, 1892.[2]
Farrington was promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December, 1903.[3]
On 1 July, 1908, Farrington was appointed in command of the second class protected cruiser Latona.[4]
Farrington was promoted to the rank of Captain on 31 December, 1910.[5]
Farrington was appointed in command of the armoured cruiser Cochrane in December, 1916.[6]
Post-War
On 28 February, 1919, he was appointed Captain Superintendent at Invergordon Dockyard,[7] eventually moving to battleship Mars, becoming Senior Naval Officer aboard.[8]
Farrington was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 18 June, 1921 and placed on the Retired List the following day at his own request.[9]
Farrington was promoted to the rank of Vice-Admiral on 8 July, 1926.[10]
