Captain William Bingham Howe, (11 May, 1883 – 31 December, 1968) served in the United States Navy.
Life & Career
Entered the Navy on 10 May, 1902, being appointed in South Dakota.[1]
As a Midshipman in 1907, Howe served in the gunboat Concord under the command of Commander Clifford Joseph Boush.[2]
Howe was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant (Junior Grade)
In early 1912, he was serving in the collier Hannibal.[3]
Howe was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 1 July, 1913. In early 1915, he was serving in the monitor Cheyenne, supporting the Second Submarine Division.[4]
In early 1923, he was teaching at the Naval War College.[5]
Howe was promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December, 1921.[6] He was appointed in command of Naval Station Tutuila in Samoa, perhaps on 28 June, 1925.[7]
World War II
Howe was posted in New York City, where he worked in Naval Intelligence.[8]
