Admiral SIR Robert Nelson Ommanney, K.B.E., C.B., Royal Navy, Retired (31 January, 1854 – 12 January, 1938) was an officer of the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Ommanney was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 16 April, 1878.[1]
Ommanney was promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December, 1893.[2]
Captain
Ommanney was promoted to the rank of Captain on 30 June, 1899.[3]
Flag Rank
Ommanney was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 1 October, 1908, vice Dicken.[4]
Ommanney was appointed an Ordinary Member of the Third Class, or Companion, in the Civil Division of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath (C.B.) on 1 January, 1913.[5] He was promoted to the rank of Vice-Admiral on 15 December, vice Keppel.[6]
Ommanney was placed on the Retired List at his own request on 9 August, 1915.[7] He was advanced to the rank of Admiral on the Retired List on 2 July, 1917.[8] He was appointed a Knight Commander of the Military Division of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (K.B.E.) on 1 January, 1919.[9]
