H.M. T.B. 56 was one of twelve second-class torpedo boats of the T.B. 51 class.

Service

In March and April, 1879, she participated in trials of an American-made Herreschoff torpedo boat outside of Portsmouth.[7]

In 1881, she was one of eight boats assigned to Hecla.[8]
