U.S.S. Arethusa was an oiler purchased by the U.S. Navy in 1898.

Construction

Launched as the Luciline by Craig, Taylor & Company of Stockton, England on 4 March, 1893. Purchased for the U.S. Navy on 12 August, 1898, she was converted for naval service at the Philadelphia Navy Yard and renamed Arethusa.

Service

Arethusa commissioned at the Philadelphia Navy Yard on 28 August, 1898, with Commander John F. Merry in command.[5]

Sold to Marshall B. Hall of Boston on 7 July, 1927.
