Admiral of the Fleet SIR Charles Frederick Hotham, G.C.B., G.C.V.O., Royal Navy (20 March, 1843 – 22 March, 1925) was at the time of his death the senior Admiral of the Fleet in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

In accordance with the provisions of the Order in Council of 5 February, 1872, on 8 February of that year Bedford was promoted to the rank of Captain with seniority of 29 December, 1871.[1]

On 18 January, 1886, Hotham was appointed a Naval Aide-de-Camp to Queen Victoria, vice Erskine.[2]

Hotham was appointed Commander-in-Chief at the Nore on 10 December, 1897.[3]

Hotham was promoted to the rank of Admiral of the Fleet, vice Lyons, on 30 August, 1903.[4]

In accordance with the provisions of the Order in Council of 22 February, 1870, Hotham was placed on the Retired List on 20 March, 1913.[5]
