In an August, 1912 distribution of business the position was given as "Superintendent of Equipment and Refits", and Director of Naval Equipment in a distribution of business and memorandum published on 7 September.[1]
The Captains Superintendent of ships building by contract and of destroyers fell under the aegis of the Director of Naval Equipment.
