Theodore Roosevelt, Jr., (October 27, 1858 – January 6, 1919) was the twenty-sixth President of the United States and often considered the father of the modern United States Navy, sending the Great White Fleet around the globe in 1907-09. He was a noted author and naturalist, and served as Assistant Secretary of the Navy under President William McKinley.
